What is it?

OnDoc provides a service where you can talk to a doctor online 24/7. Several of the larger health insurance companies now offer some form of telehealth services as part of their plans because we have all come to realize that this can increase convenience and save on costs.

There are also great options like Teladoc and other companies which strive to make telehealth services conveniently available to larger segments of the US population.

However, OnDoc is quite possibly the most affordable and cheapest virtual doctor service available in the healthcare marketplace today. It costs $30/month and covers the entire household including all your dependents.

The service can be cancelled anytime (they offer a 30-day money-back guarantee) and there are no contracts, cancellation fees or other additional fees of any kind.

Your OnDoc member services can be used separately as a stand-alone healthcare service since there is no insurance requirement to join. OnDoc is also not an insurance company and can be used in addition to your employer-provided health insurance.

The company’s mission is to make healthcare solutions affordable and conveniently accessible to everyone while also putting you in control of your own physical health. The option is offered affordably to everyone whether or not they have health insurance.

What’s included?

OnDoc’s service is broken down into 3 main HIPAA-compliant categories of providers:

Health AdvocatesTM

Say you came home one day not feeling great because your sinuses were acting up. It’s a common issue but that affects a lot of people.

Now suppose you were in no mood to make an appointment or drive anywhere, you might be thinking that it would be pretty great to have an online doctor consultation and prescription service or an after hours health line that you could call into to get medical advice.

You might open up your computer and search “24 hour nurse hotline number near me” or if it was your child or dependent you might search for “24 hour pediatric hotline near me no insurance” if for instance, you were still in a waiting period for your health insurance.

These are the kinds of issues that OnDoc’s service solves by essentially linking members to an affordable 24/7 virtual medical health center with over 3000 board-certified physicians and other licensed medical practitioners.

You can call a doctor or use online chat to ask medically related questions, describe your symptoms and get immediate answers, diagnoses and treatment. Medications can also be e-prescribed to your nearest local pharmacy if deemed medically appropriate and necessary.

(Note – You cannot be prescribed controlled substances with this virtual service due to DEA regulations).

Parents with young children may find themselves making after-hours trips to the ER when doctors’ offices are closed.

In addition to the inconvenience of making the trip, there may be a long wait time that is spent with you trying unsuccessfully to cheer up a fussy young child who is feeling sick, unhappy and uncomfortable.

But here’s the kicker, most of the time, the child is miraculously better a day later because their discomfort was caused by a minor illness that responded speedily to the medication prescribed.

In such cases, you can have an online consultation where you can talk with a doctor via online chat or get medical advice on the phone before proceeding to the Emergency Room if deemed medically necessary. Having so many convenient options is an absolute gift.

You can get medical advice 24/7 and then keep your appointment with you GP or Pediatrician in the morning to get a second opinion and make sure that you or your child are otherwise in perfect health.

What else is included?

The Doctors Online portion of OnDoc allows you to email physicians and other specialists online 24/7 with no additional sign up required once set up. Available specialists include:

  • Physicians
  • Pharmacists
  • Psychologists
  • Pediatricians
  • Alternative Medicine Doctors
  • Dietitians
  • Fitness Experts
  • Dentists
  • And More!

You can ask health-related questions to a specialist by email and get an answer back within a few hours. If your friends have ever accused you of being a hypochondriac, this might be the service for you.

For me, it has helped cut down on the hundreds of hours I used to spend online researching the color of my urine or why I thought my last cough sounded weird.

Emailing specialists through OnDoc has helped me understand that I better start paying those bills I was allowing to pile up when I thought my odd urine color meant I was possibly dying. Turns out it was just those beets I ate. Oh well, live and learn.

But wait, there’s more…

The Health Advocate Solutions portion of OnDoc links you with healthcare advocacy experts who can help with negotiating discounts on your hospital bills or medical debt where possible.

They can also help with explaining your insurance benefits in plain English and to decipher the hieroglyphics that lab tests, treatments and medications are usually written in so you can fully understand them.

There is also an on-demand nurse hotline where you can speak to a Registered Nurse and ask questions about your symptoms, medications and health-conditions. You get expert advice anytime, any where on how to care for yourself and make a speedy recovery from non-emergency medical issues.
